Profile - Jon Ellard

I studied Business Studies with IT at C&G COHE (now The University of Gloucestershire) graduating in 1999 with a BA Hons Degree.

I worked for 4 years at Triangle South Ltd, a Management Consultancy based in Gloucester. As the Commercial Manager my responsibilities included, commercial planning, marketing core business and managing a Telemarketing Department, which I helped set up and by the time I left was in profit.

The Pubs2000.com concept came for my passion of Gloucestershire and the Public Houses, Bar and Clubs in the county. For two years Pub2000 ran as a sideline to my full time employment at Triangle but with interest and visitors on the site increasing I took the plunge and started Pubs2000 full time in January 2002.

In order to grow and expand the business Ellard Marketing Ltd was incorporated in January 2005.

In September 2003 I was approached by Urban Element Design Solutions who asked me to become a Director in their business in order to look after the sales and marketing side of the operation. We had worked previously on a number of web projects and in October 2006 we merged companies. For more information about Urban Element please look at our web site.

Since January 2004 I have been consulting and telemarketing for Business Link Gloucestershire and currently work three days a week in their Cheltenham Head Office. Business Link is dedicated to supporting all businesses in the county by providing independent, impartial advice

From 1st May 2003 to July 2004 I was one of the licensees of Harry's Bar & Restaurant in Lydney.

2002 Business e-Exemplar Awards

Pubs2000 won the 2002 Business e-Xemplar Award for innovation and their success in sharing their experience of e-Marketing. For the last two years I have been part of the judging panel and was proud to have one my clients short listed for the 2004 e-business award.

Profile - Pubs2000

The mission of Pubs2000.com is:
One - To encourage people to drink in pubs, bars and clubs rather than buying from the supermarket for home consumption.
Two - To increase the awareness of Gloucestershire as a tourist destination.

Implementation of mission:

For the Pubs, Bars & Clubs etc.

Pubs2000.com firstly, allows Gloucestershire pubs, bars and clubs the opportunity to advertise/communicate globally and cost effectively through an interactive Internet presence that is marketed/promoted (both traditionally and through the Internet) on a continual basis.

For the User

Secondly, we offer the user/customer a high level of information on pubs with regards to location, facilities and atmosphere so that the establishments they find and visit best meet their needs. Pubs2000 also provides numerous interactive features and games within the site to maintain a high retention of users.

For Gloucestershire

Thirdly, Pubs2000 is networking with Gloucestershire based businesses, public sector bodies and charities to create local community spirit and raise the profile of Gloucestershire as a tourist destination. Including:

Charity Events

Over the last four years Pubs2000 have run numerous charity events and have every intention or continuing to do so.



Pub Crawls & Events

Over the last 3 years Pubs2000 have run 10 pub awareness nights with Students attending from Gloucestershire University, Hartpury College and Gloscat.

The aims of the events are:

To introduce students to student friendly pubs and clubs.

To promote Gloucestershire as a student friendly county.

To increase the revenues of Pubs2000 clients.



Adopt a local campaign

Adopt a Local

Adopt a local was launched in March 2003 and has proved a huge success providing Worldwide publicity for Pubs2000 and more importantly traditional and rural pubs/inns.
